David Marshall

David Marshall recently retired after a 25 year career in the Fine Chemical and Pharmaceutical industries. He has been researching and collecting metalwork from the Arts and Crafts Movement for over 15 years. In 2019 he turned his hobby into a business, launching a new website, Hammer and Hand, where David uses his knowledge and research to give pieces of Arts and Crafts metalwork back their full history and provenance. 

A chance introduction in 2020 provided the opportunity to write about the history of the Newton School of Metal Work. David plans to continue researching the lesser-known Guilds and Schools, particularly those associated with the Home Arts and Industries Association, and share his findings through published articles, books and exhibitions.
